On Dec 15th we would like everyone to try a new site called - GrassHop.

A GrassHop page has been set up which allows you to easily email your representative on behalf of Jason Puracal. You will register on the site and through the click of a button email your senators and congressional representative. There is a letter about Jason Puracal already loaded on the grasshop site. Fill out your address information and it will automatically send the letter to the correct representative.

You must register with your name and home address. Note, your representatives must have your home address to confirm you live in their district whenever you write a letter. Your personal information will not be shared or used beyond hitting submit. You can register and send here:

I'm going to try again but I registered and never received the confirmation e-mail. When I tried to send the letter it said my account wasn't active and when I tried to re-register it said my e-mail address was already used.

Hi Jstanz - my registration went to my spam folder. Once I found it the whole registration and petition signing took me about 30 seconds.

This has been a good month for Jason. His sisters got a chance to visit him in prison, and the "Free Jason P" effort has received the support of both senators from Washington and Oregon as well as Jason's congressional representative. People are becoming aware of Jason's situation and support is beginning to mobilize. Check out http://freejasonp.com/home/2011/12/9/free-jason-p-community-update.html for a summary of the momentum and what's going on with Jason's health and his appeal. If you haven't already, head over to GrassHop at the link above and sign the letter to members of congress demanding that they look at Jason's case and get involved.

I signed up and sent letters from the grasshop site. I got a reply back from one of the senators (automated) but hopefully she will read it for real.

I'm really upset - I can't sign up. I tried again and the confirmation e-mail never came through. I checked my spam folder again and it wasn't there. And now the site keeps telling me my e-mail address is already taken. Grrrrrr.

Hi Jstanz,

Sorry this hasn't gone smoothly for you. :(

Have you tried - forgot password - or perhaps - contact us. In order to get the problem fixed?

Hey guys,

Tomorrow is the 15th and we'd love to get a big turn out for this month's "help Jason" initiative. If you haven't already, jump over to the link at the start of this thread, register with Grasshop and sign a letter to your congressional representatives demanding that they look into Jason's case. As I said yesterday, Jason's cause is beginning to get some attention and anything you folks could do to keep the ball rolling would be appreciated.

For a summary of the activity around Jason's case this month, go to http://freejasonp.com/home/2011/12/9/fr ... pdate.html and give it a read.

After almost 5 years, I just now learned that my email system automatically deletes "spam" without bothering to show it to me! I never noticed that it was set to do that, since 95% of my email is spam anyway. Good old Verizon! I've sent a note to Grasshopr asking them to resend the confirmation or email, or kill the account altogether, since I only have one email. I'll just have to see if they get back to me anytime soon. I'm amazed that anything in Verizon's setup would flag this as spam given the unbelieveable amount of other crap that they let through. I actually thought I had no spam filter turned on.

So you're having problems, too? And I see you also have Verizon, too......

Hey Leon,

First, thanks so much for trying to help Jason. As Jstanz's posts indicate, you're not the only one having problems. Have you tried adjusting your spam settings so the emails don't auto-delete and then resubmitting a grasshop registration? If you try, please post the results here as the information might be helpful to others who are trying to register.

The problem is that I don't have a usable password to logon with, but if I try to resubmit the the registration, it tells me that my email address is already in use. So the account does exist, I just can't use it or create another one with the same email address. Classic Catch-22 programming. :D I did make sure that my spam filter is turned off, but even though I can get the screen that supposedly resets passwords, and even though it says its sending a reset email, I don't ever receive it. I've sent a request for help to their contact page, we'll see if it gets a response.

Thanks Leon - that's exactly the problem I'm having. Really strange considering all the other spam that comes in my inbox. I also sent a request for help but I'm assuming I'm not going to receive the response since I haven't received anything else from that site.
