An update about Jason from his sister, Janis:

"Jaime and I went to Nicaragua two weeks ago to see Jason. He is struggling physically. He has lost even more weight and is obviously malnourished. The prison provides only rice and beans, but they add bicarbonate to make the food seem more "filling" so they don't have to feed the prisoners as much. Jason developed an inflammatory condition because of that diet and can no longer eat the rice and beans. He relies on family and friends to bring fresh fruits, vegetables, and staples (like granola and crackers), but he shares a 15' x 15' cell with seven other men and cannot store much. Some days he has only crackers to sustain himself. Jaime and I were thrilled to get into the prison on special visits all three days we were there and brought him hot food and fattening desserts every day."

Norm, sorry for the confusion, but the paragraph above is what Jason's sister Janis wrote. Janis and Jamie Puracal went to Nicaragua to visit their brother Jason, not me.

Thank you so much for getting involved in Jason's case also! :)
